Andy Gregg Second at Mark Forni Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: While he has showcased some serious speed in 2020, Andy Gregg has been unable to post the results he felt his team deserved. Saturday night that was not the case, as Gregg was very strong and picked up a second-place finish at the Mark Forni Classic.

“We had a great night going and flirted with a clean sweep which would have been a first for me,” Gregg said. “We have been tweaking some things the last few weeks, and Saturday night things really came together, and we were pretty awesome.”

With 46 cars checked into the pit area for the 15th Annual Mark Forni Classic, Gregg would get off to a blistering start as he timed in fastest in his group and fastest overall in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Gregg flexed his muscle aboard the GUTS/LAL Motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency backed No. 16x as he walked away with the win and found himself in the redraw.

Pulling the two, Gregg would line up on the front row of the feature event alongside young Blake Carrick. On a very slick racing surface, Gregg would thunder out front and grab the early lead.

Riding the thick cushion that built up in turns one and two, Gregg would make a slight mistake on the seventh lap that saw him trip over it and allow Blake Carrick to overtake the top spot.

Continuing to hold down the second position, Gregg would get close to Carrick on a few occasions but the opportunity to make a move on him never materialized and he capped his strong night with a second place finish.

“I have got to give a ton of cred to Bill McLaren for the awesome car all night long,” Gregg said. “Super happy for Robert, Gage, and Luke to enjoy a podium run with such a strong field of cars checked in.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Sierra Ice, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2020.

ON TAP: Gregg is unsure when his next race will be at this time.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1
