Austin Torgerson Wins Winged Portion of Jet Bowl Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending is weekend in Lemoore, CA at the Jet Bowl, Austin Torgerson put together a dominant weekend that saw him win three of four feature events including the Winged finale of the Jet Bowl Classic on Saturday night.

Running the Winged and Non Winged classes all weekend long, Torgerson got Friday night off to an excellent start as he timed in third fastest in both divisions during time trials.

In his Non-Winged heat race, Torgerson lined up on the outside of the second row and was able to make a couple of nice moves to net a second place finish and move into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the fourth starting position, Torgerson settled into fourth for the opening laps before he moved into third on the third lap. Working hard on the Jet Bowl surface, the Glendale, AZ driver powered into second on the seventh lap as he patiently went to work on the leader with 23 laps left in the race.

Just passed the halfway point, Torgerson made his move and powered into the lead on the 17th lap. Out in front, he never looked back as he went on to claim his third feature event win of the season to date.

Finishing fourth in his winged heat race, Torgerson moved into the feature event and just as he did in the non-winged ‘A’, he took the green front the second row.

Moving into second when the feature came to life, Torgerson was patient and methodical just as he was in non winged competition. In the winged race he waited one lap longer to make his move, as he took command of the race on the 18thlap and look to double up.

Leading the final 12-laps, Torgerson did just that as he capped off a great night and parked his winged car in victory lane.

Locked into both Jet Bowl Classic feature events on Saturday night, Torgerson would take part in both classes’ Saturday night Dogfights.

Finishing second in both Dogfights, Torgerson lined up on the front row of both feature events.

Slipping back to third when the non-winged feature went green, Torgerson hung with the lead duo, and briefly moved inot second on the eighth lap, but it was a short lived stint.

Dropping back to third a lap later, a late bobble saw Torgerson fall off the podium as he fell back to fourth, where he ultimately finished the feature.

When the winged finale went green, Torgerson settled into second before he made his race winning move on the eighth lap. Taking command of the race, Torgerson fended off the advances of Jett Yantis and Cody Christensen to score his third feature event win of the weekend and claim the win in the winged portion of the Jet Bowl Classic.
