PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Lucas Ashe would put on quite a charge in the feature event as he would finish fifth after gridding the field from the 15th starting spot.
“We were a little off in qualifying and timed in pretty bad, but Harley Van Dyke and the guys got my car really racy in the heat and the feature, and we were able to come out of the night with a really finish,” Lucas Ashe explained.
Timing in 15th on an extremely hooked up Marysville Raceway track early in the night, Lucas Ashe would advance to sixth in his heat race after taking the green flag in the ninth spot.
Moving into the feature event, Ashe lined the SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 33 machine up in the 15th starting position for the 25-lap feature event.
Going to work on the Marysville Raceway cushion, Ashe was able to put on a show as he laid down some great laps on the high, scary side of the speedway. Able to pick off cars at will, Ashe quickly raced his way inside the Top-10.
Continuing to get better as the race moved along, Ashe would make up ground, as he would get by the likes of Brad Bumgarner, Peter Paulson, and Bobby Butler to crack the Top-Five.
Chasing after Billy Wallace and Mike Monahan late in race, Ashe could not quite get to the duo fight for a podium position as he capped his night with a hard fought Top-Five finish.
“I have to thank my team for working so hard,” Ashe added. “It was a lot of fun moving forward through the field like we did. This week I get to make another 410ci start, and I am really excited to take part in the David Tarter Memorial on Friday night and run the No. 35 in honor of Tarter.”
