Ashton Torgerson 7th With Sprint Car Challenge Tour

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning home for the weekend fresh off of his first Xtreme Outlaws Midget Series win, Ashton Torgerson climbed aboard the family owned Sprint Car and picked up a seventh place finish in Merced, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

After making a cameo in Lemoore, CA on Friday night in Micro action where he ran 7th, Torgerson checked in at Merced Speedway on Saturday and kicked his night off by timing in 12th quickest in his qualifying time trials flight.

Putting him in the third row of his heat race, Torgerson’s Lee Lindgren prepared entry was very racy on the extremely slick surface as he was able to forge his way ahead and tally a third place finish.

Locking into the 35-la feature event with his third place run in his heat, Torgerson took the green flag from the 13thstarting position on a surface that was very slick and abrasive.

As things came to life, passing proved to be tricky on this night, though the youngster who calls Glendale, AZ home searched around the ¼ mile trying to find a line that would allow him to make a run forward.

Tight knit racing in the middle of the field did see Torgerson snuck around a few cars and move into 12th by the 10th lap.

Continuing to show patience as the track started to take rubber, Torgerson moved into ninth on the 15th lap, and was in eighth one lap later.

Running in eighth for a good chunk of the race, Torgerson moved into seventh with just 10-laps left to run in the feature.

With the dominant lane being in the rubber, passing was nonexistent for the final laps, and Torgerson capped his weekend off with a seventh place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, as he now turns his attention back to midget racing this weekend.
