PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in Dixon Speedway’s points finale over the weekend, Ashton Torgerson capped off a strong point season at the track as he was officially crowned the Track Champion in both the Non-Winged and Super 600 Winged classes.
Kicking the weekend off on Friday night, Ashton Torgerson hit the track in his Rowdy Energy backed Non-Winged entry and timed in fastest in time trials before racing his way to a second place finish in his heat race.
Moving into the Dash, Torgerson powered his way to a win and quickly turned his attention to the feature event where he lined up on the pole of the 25-lap feature event.
When the Non-Winged feature event came to life, Torgerson got off to a tough start as he slipped all the way back to seventh before settling in and getting his rhythym. Powered his way into fifth by the race’s 12th lap, Torgerson was in fourth on lap 13 and moved into third on the 17th circuit.
Continuing to get stronger as the laps clicked off, the Medford, OR driver took over the second position with just six laps left in the Friday night feature event, as he chased after Jeffrey Pahule who had built up a comfortable lead.
Cutting into the lead, Torgerson would come up just short of the win, as he capped Friday’s Non-Wing feature event off with a second-place finish.
Winged action on Friday night kicked off with Torgerson timing the Rowdy Energy backed No. 02 in third fastest in time trials, before a sixth-place finish in his heat race put him mid-pack to start the feature event.
Lining up in the sixth row of the 25-lap Winged ‘A’, Torgerson was up to 10th on the opening lap as he looked to make a run through the field.
Unable to mount a strong charge forward, Torgerson had a very good points night as he kept his machine inside the Top-10 and spend much of the feature battling for the seventh position.
Getting seventh for good on the 21st lap, Torgerson raced on to hold the spot when the checkered flag flew.
Returning to action on Saturday night again doing double duty, Torgerson got off to a quick start in Non-Winged action as he timed in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, before racing his way from fourth to third in his heat race.
Moving into the Dash for Cash, Torgerson continued his strong night as he quickly advanced from his fourth starting position to earn the win.
Lining up on the pole of the Kaiser Memorial feature event, Torgerson flexed his muscle from the onset as he quickly jumped out to the lead. Setting the pace early, Torgerson would not be denied on this night, as he led all 40-laps and picked up his 32nd win of the 2022 season. With the win, Torgerson also claimed the 2022 Non Wing Championship at Dixon Speedway.
Winged action on Saturday night got underway with the Medford, CA driver timing in second fastest in qualifying time trials.
Running fourth in his heat race, Torgerson picked up another win in the Dash, and lined up on the pole of this 40-lap feature event as well as he looked to go two-for-two on the night.
Slipping back to third when the race came to life, Torgerson would settle into fourth as the race got into a green flag run. Running solidly in fourth, a brief misstep saw the youngster slip back to fifth on the 27th lap, but he was quickly able to move back into fourth on lap 32.
Keeping his mount well inside the Top-Five, Torgerson would finish fourth and also earn the Super 600 Winged Dixon Speedway Track Championship.
