PETERSEN MEDIA- Resuming his rookie campaign with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series, Ashton Torgerson and his Keith Kunz Motorsports team picked up an 11th place finish on Friday night at US 36 Raceway before recording a Top-10 at the Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex on Saturday night.
Saturday night at Sweet Springs, Torgerson kicked the night off by timing his newly wrapped Safety-Kleen backed No. 67K entry in second fastest in his qualifying flight.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Glendale, AZ driver picked up a third-place finish which put him in the fourth row to start the 30-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Torgerson got off to a nice start as he quickly took over the sixth position, before making a bid for fifth on the third lap,
An exciting battle for a spot in the Top-Five saw Torgerson come up on the losing end as he settled into sixth where he ran for the sixth seven stanzas. Slipping back to seventh on the 13th lap, the youngster settled in, hit his marks, and capped his weekend off with a Top-10 by way of his seventh-place finish.
Checking in at US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO on Friday night to open his weekend up, Torgerson got off to another good start as he timed in third fastest in his qualifying flight before pocketing a second-place finish in heat race competition.
Lining up seventh in the feature event, Torgerson didn’t quite have the run he had hoped for as he slipped back to 10th as the race came to life. Falling as far back as 12th at the halfway point of the feature, Torgerson was able to get right back into 11th where he went on to finish.
