PETERSEN MEDIA- With a flat tire slowing Willie Croft on Saturday night with the King of the West Series, the Roseville, CA driver is looking for a little redemption this weekend at the 2nd Annual Asparagus Cup in Stockton, CA.
“We have been pretty fast as of late, we just haven’t had luck and anything to show for it,” Croft said. “We had a really good night going with the King of the West Series on Saturday but we had a flat and had to make a trip to the work area.”
Timing the Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed machine in fastest overall in qualifying time trials, Croft would continue a strong start to the night as he pick up a spot in heat race action to finish third.
Moving into the Dash, Croft would line up in the third row and work his way up to finish fourth, which would better his feature event starting position as he would grid the field from the second row.
Always showing speed at Kern County Raceway Park, Croft would look to get the monkey off of his back on this night at the Bakersfield, CA facility but an early flat tire would make the opening stages of the race tricky.
Falling back to eight, Croft would finally pull into the work area during an early stoppage and grab some fresh rubber. Trying some things, Croft would get back to 13th where he would ultimately take the checkered flag.
Fast forward to this week, and Croft and the Willie Croft Racing team are looking forward to two nights of action at the Stockton Dirt Track for the 2nd Annual Asparagus Cup.
Cashing in at the track a year ago, Croft was in contention for the inaugural Asparagus Cup win and returns this year hungry to grab what has quickly turned into a crowned jewel event with a lucrative payday up for grabs.
“We have been really good at Stockton since it has been open, and I would love to get back there and grab a win or two this weekend,” Croft said. “A ton of money and prestige is on the line and we will be ready to go.”
