Austin Liggett Parks in Victory Lane at Keller Auto Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Keller Auto Speedway for the first time since a vicious flip a few weeks back, Austin Liggett found redemption as he scored the victory in Bandit Non-Wing Sprint Car action on Saturday night.

“Saturday night went much more smoothly than it did the last time we were in Hanford, CA,” Austin Liggett said. “The car was an absolute rocket all night, and the surface was incredible.”

The Tracy, CA product kicked the action off on Saturday night by timing the Excel Environmental Services/Liggett Trucking/Tool Technology mount in second fastest overall.

Heat race action saw Liggett power from his fourth starting position to garner a second-place finish and earn a berth in Dash. Picking up a third-place finish, Liggett would find himself in the second row to start the feature event.

When the feature event came around, Liggett would get off to a sluggish start as he got trapped behind a slower car and fell all the way back to seventh, as Brody Roa was able to get out front and break away as he set a dominant pace.

After getting settled in, Liggett would go to work in a big way as he was able to get his car to clean air and beginning to pick off positions left and right. Carving his way up to second, he would face his biggest obstacle and that was tracking down Roa who had built up nearly a 2 second advantage over the field.

Working the high side of the speedway, Liggett was able to cut the lead down lap after lap before catching and passing Roa on the on the 18th lap. Out front, Liggett would show how strong he was he held the lead and raced his way to his second feature event win of the season.

“I really have to thank my parents, Matt, Landon, and Ali for their hard work and help, and give some thanks to Peter Murphy for giving us a really awesome track.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Liggett Trucking, Tool Technology, Hurst Fabrications, Maxwell Industries, Shine Photography, ZMAX Racing Oil, and Transport Products Unlimited for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-12, Wins-2, Top 5’s-8, Top 10’s-9

ON TAP: Liggett will sit idle this weekend before picking back up on June 26th at Ventura Raceway with the USAC West Coast 360 Series.
