Austin Torgerson 13th with Mounce/Stout Motorsports in Illinois

PETERSEN MEDIA- A schedule shake up within the Torgerson household led Austin Torgerson to teaming up with Mounce/Stout Motorsports in 2024, and their season came to life over the weekend in DuQuoin, IL with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series.

Friday night, the season kicked off at the Southern Illinois Center as Torgerson timed his Mounce/Stout Motorsports backed No. 88A entry in third quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up second in his heat race, Torgerson pocketed a third-place finish as nightly points are at stake with this series. Though finishing third, Torgerson was forced into one of the three ‘B’ Mains on this night, but his front row starting position put him in a great position with only two transfer berths up for grabs.

Front the pole, the elder Torgerson brother got the jump and grabbed the early lead. Carefully working around the Southern Illinois Center’s speedway, he was able to keep the field at bay and pick up the win and keep his night alive.

Moving into the opening night feature event, Torgerson took the green flag for the 30-lap feature event from the 17thstarting spot. Mired deep in the field, Torgerson was able to keep his nose clean as he picked up a handful of positions and closed the night out with a 13th place finish.

Back in action on Saturday to close out the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series’ opening weekend, Torgerson opened the night up by timing the Mounce/Stout Motorsports entry in sixth fastest in his qualifying group.

Finishing seventh in his heat race, the Glendale, AZ runner moved into a ‘B’ Main where he lined up in the eighth starting position.

Needing to finish inside the Top-2 to again transfer into the feature, Torgerson’s seventh place finish brought his weekend to an end.

ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will turn his attention to Micro Sprint action this weekend as he will be in Visalia, CA for the KKM Giveback event.
