Bad Luck Bites Cody Lamar Late at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking to put a string of bad luck at Placerville Speedway behind him on Saturday night, Cody Lamar looked to be well on his way to a solid night at the ¼ mile speedway until some late issues knocked him out of the race early while running well inside the Top-10.

“Placerville Speedway just hasn’t been too nice to us lately,” Cody Lamar said. “We have been really fast there lately, but things just do not go our way come feature event time.”

Kicking the tracks’ regular season finale off by timing in fastest in time trials over the 29 cars that had checked into the pit area, the Sacramento, CA driver would then start and finish fourth in his heat race.

With his heat race finish and his qualifying effort being good enough to put him in the redraw, Lamar would pull the six pill which placed him in the third row for the start of the 25-lap feature event.

On a very racy Placerville Speedway surface, Lamar would get off to a very nice start as he held his own in the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed NO. 9L.

Working into the fifth spot briefly, Lamar would slip back to sixth just before the caution flew on the 10th lap. The ensuring restart would not go well for Lamar as he fell back to the 10th position, but he would slowly work his way back forward.

Jumping back up to eighth a lap later, Lamar found himself in a dogfight for the seventh spot. Getting into seventh on the 18th circuit, the next lap would see him get into the cushion a little too hot and it would cause damage to his radiator and would force him to retire for the rest of the night.

“We just keep plugging away, and hopefully one of these nights we can finish a race there,” Lamar said. “I have to thank everyone who continues to support myself and this race team.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-22, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s-7

ON TAP: Cody and his team will be back at Placerville Speedway this Friday and Saturday night for the Nor Cal Posse Shootout.
