Bad Luck Riddles Tanner Carrick’s Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Looking to pick up another win at Silver Dollar Speedway to close the track’s 2018 campaign out, Tanner Carrick took part in the 26th Annual Fall Nationals over the weekend but bad luck would hamper results during both nights of action.

“It was kind of a frustrating weekend, because we had some awesome speed during both nights,” Tanner Carrick said. “Unfortunately some bad luck in both features led to two ‘DNF’s.”

Friday night Carrick would open the night up by timing in second quickest in his qualifying flight with 51 cars jammed into the Silver Dollar Speedway pit area. Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick was able to pick up the win aboard his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil entry and punch his ticket into the Dash.

Lining up fifth in the Dash, Carrick would finish in the same position, which placed him in the third row for the opening night feature event. From his third row starting position, Carrick would get off to a nice star as he raced his way forward amongst the Top-Five.

On the race’s seventh circuit, Carrick’s would lose the handle to his machine and spin out, forcing him to restart at the back of pack.

Carrick’s spin would later be attributed to a right front shock going bad, as the shock would give way on the 27th lap and he would retire a few laps early and be scored 22nd.

Looking for a better night on Saturday, Carrick would again get off to a nice start in time trials as he would end up eighth quickest in his group with 56 cars in attendance on this night. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick would get off to a slow start as he fell back to seventh at one point.

Settling into a rhythm, Carrick would get going in the right direction as he would work back up to fourth and transfer directly into the 40-lap feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 16th position.

A super technical track on this night would make things tough for some, but Carrick seemed to adapt to it as he would work his way into 12th as he worked towards a position inside the Top-10.

With his right rear losing air pressure and ultimately going flat, Carrick would pull off the racing surface on the 28th lap and be scored in the 20th position.

“Just bad luck,” Carrick said. “These weekends will happen in this sports, and all you can do is grit your teeth and move on. Thanks to all of our partners, and to Clark Riolo and everyone that helps our race team out.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 26, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 5, Top 10’s: 12
