PETERSEN MEDIA- Ryan Bernal and his Mike Phulps Motorsports team were in action for one final weekend of action in 2015 as they took on the USAC National Series and USAC/CRA Series during the Western World Championships where Bernal would end up finishing in the 11th spot.

“I thought we raced really well again, but just like at Perris, I just could not get us timed in well,” Bernal said. “Coming from the back every night against that competition is tough, but I was pleased with how we raced.”

Kicking the three-day event off on Thursday night at the USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ, Bernal would time the Tri-L Mandarin Ranch/Metal Works/DMI No. 56 machine in 16th fastest before finishing second in his heat race.

Moving into the feature event, Bernal would line up in the eighth row for the 30-lap affair. On a rough and tumble USA Raceway, the Hollister, CA driver was able to work his way forward as he went toe-to-toe with some of the best the USAC had to offer.

When the race came to a close, Bernal would take the checkered flag with an eighth place finish, making him one of just three California based drivers to finish in the Top-10.

Back at it on Friday night, Bernal would time in 17th fastest before racing his way to a win in heat race action, which would transfer him directly into the feature event.  Lining up towards the back of the pack, Bernal would get off to a strong start, but would be forced to end his night on the fifth lap with a mechanical failure.

The Western World Championship finale would see the Mike Phulps Motorsports No. 56 line up in the second row of his qualifier with the top-three finishers moving onto the A Main event.

Battling with RJ Johnson, Bernal would finish in the third and final transfer spot, which would put him in the eighth row of the 30-lap Western World Championship feature event. On an extremely slick and racy surface on this night, Bernal would search all around the track looking for grip as he worked his way towards the Top-10.

Racing wheel-to-wheel with Damion Gardner, Chris Windom, and Jerry Coons, Jr, Bernal would take his final checkered flag of the year aboard the Mike Phulps Motorsports No. 56 with an 11th place finish.

“It was good to put it in the show every night, and I think if we would have qualified better, we would have been contenders, but it just did not work out that way,” Bernal added. “I really have to thank my guys for all of their hard work this weekend all year.”

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.
