PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to King of the West action on Saturday night with Tarlton Motorsports, Ryan Bernal would rebound nicely after a poor qualifying time as he earned hard charger honors by way of his fourth place finish.
“My qualifying effort put us behind, but we were solid all night and that is a huge testament to these Tarlton Motorsports guys,” Ryan Bernal said. “To come from 13th against these guys and finish fourth is a good night, and I am just excited it looks like we will start getting to race a little more often now with the schedule picking up here over the Summer.”
Timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 in 13th quickest in qualifying time trials, the Hollister, CA driver would pick up a fourth place finish in heat race competition.
Moving into the 30-lap feature event Bernal would take the green flag from the seventh row on the slick and wide Petaluma Speedway surface. Notorious for the Gumbo-like conditions, Bernal was primed for the slick surface as he was patient in his pursuit to the front.
Seemingly biding his time during the first half of the ‘A’, the second half really saw him come alive as he began slicing and dicing his way through the Top-10. Working his way into the Top-Five, Bernal would not be finished as he looked for more.
In a wild end to the race that saw three attempts at a green-white-checkered, Bernal would pick up one more spot as he capped a Swift Metal Finishing’s Hard Charger effort with a run from 13th to fourth.
“If I can get myself timed in, we will be right there nightly I think,” Bernal said. “My guys give me a great car, I just let them down early and put us in a hole. Great working with Paul Baines and these guys, and thanks to the Tarlton family for putting me in a really great position this year.”
