Blake Carrick Takes Two Top-10’s Out of Chico, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the weekend running a 410ci engine in Chico, CA, Blake Carrick would have a solid outing that culminated in him pocketing an eighth-place finish on Friday night and a ninth-place finish on Saturday in King of the West Series action.

“It was a fun weekend running the 410ci engine both nights, and we had some good speed,” Blake Carrick said. “Saturday night we were in a really good spot, but I struggled on restarts, and it cost us quite a few spots.”

Friday night would go off as an unsanctioned 410ci event and Carrick would time his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry in fourth fastest in his qualifying group. Lining up fourth in his heat race, Carrick would pocket a fourth-place finish and it would place him 12th on the starting grid for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Carrick would get off to a slow start as he would slip back through the field and find himself in the 17th position by the fifth lap.

Able to settle in as the race got into a grove, Carrick wasted no time racing his way back into the Top-10 as he took the 10th position on 10th lap.

Working into ninth a lap later, Carrick would use a late restart to take over eighth, where he would go on to cap his night off.

Saturday night saw the King of the West Series roll into town for the 10th running of the David Tarter Memorial and Carrick got off to a very good start as he timed in fourth fastest amongst the 30-cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, Carrick would finish third and accumulate enough points to make himself eligible for the Sunnyvalley Dash.

Taking the green flag from the second row in the Dash, Carrick would race to a second-place finish which put him on the front row of the 35-lap feature event alongside fellow young gun, Corey Day.

Settling into third once the action kicked off, a myriad of restarts would hinder Carrick as he would fall back each time the races resumed.

Falling all the way back to 10th late in the race, Carrick would find a way to get back to ninth and with the waiving of the checkered flag.

“We were pretty good under green flag action, but restarts were brutal,” Carrick added.

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Eddie’s Lincoln Automotive, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick is set for Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-11, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-7
