C&M Motorsports Brings 2024 To Life With Kaleb Montgomery at Asparagus Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a couple of stars in the C&M Motorsports No. 7c over the last few seasons, Kaleb Montgomery got the nod to open the team’s season at the Asparagus Cup on Saturday night, and though the night didn’t go as planned, Montgomery was thankful for the opportunity.

“First and foremost, I am extremely grateful that Cody and Mandi gave me the opportunity to driver their car at the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s season opening event,” Montgomery said. “I didn’t do the team any favors in time trials, but Cody kept working hard to get me comfortable on the new track configuration all night.”

On the very slick confines of the newly shaped Stockton Dirt Track, Montgomery timed in 12th fastest in his qualifying group which lined him up in the third row of his heat race aboard the Lund Construction/Anrak/Sam Rhodes backed No. 7C.

With track work taking place after NARC time trials were completed, a tackier surface was offered up to the SCCT for heat races. Able to pick up one spot in his heat, the Templeton, CA driver finished fifth and transferred directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Lining up 19th on the starting grid, a lap two restart saw a mutli-car pile take place in turn four, and with nowhere to go to Montgomery was collected in the mess.

Able to restart, Montgomery went to work from the back of the pack and was able make some headway. Getting more and more comfortable with each lap, Montgomery pushed the limits a little too hard and blew the C&M Motorsports entry over the end of the speedway and opted to drive back to the pit area and call it a night.

“In the feature, we got rolling okay after the early wreck, and I started to get more and more comfortable,” Montgomery said. “I got a little too brave and got off the edge of the track and called it a night at that point. Very thankful to run with the C&M Motorsports team, and hopeful I can get another chance again soon.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, Adrian Blanco Jewelry, Kings Meats, American Paving Systems, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: C&M Motorsports will head to Placerville Speedway on Saturday to open the tracks’ 2024 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0
