Cody Lamar Continues to Grind in 2019

PETERSEN MEDIA- Finally able to string together multiple weekends of racing action, Cody Lamar had a good run going at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night until a mistake late in the race cost him several positions.

“I keep saying it, but we are getting better and better with each race we run,’ Cody Lamar said. “Saturday night we were able to time in okay, transfer out of our heat, and get moving in the feature, but I just flirted with a thing cushion too long and it bit me.”

With 28 cars checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Lamar would open his night up by timing the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L machine in 13th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Racing to a fourth place finish in his heat race, Lamar’s efforts would be rewarded, as he would transfer directly into the 25-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position.

On a very racy Placerville Speedway surface, Lamar would take a liking to the high side of the speedway as the cushion started off being built up. As he worked his way inside the Top-10, the cushion would start to deteriorate as several drivers went to work on it.

As it got to be razor thin, Lamar would still chose the high side in turns one and two and he made his way up to seventh just past the race’s halfway point. On the 17th lap, Lamar would have some issues as he leaned on the cushion a little to hard and it gave way and caused him to get off the racing surface and come to a stop.

Forced to the back of the pack, Lamar would pick up a couple of positions in the closing laps as he finished 15th.

“Saturday I think was the best I have felt in our limited starts this year,” Lamar said. “Thanks to all the guys who lend a hand, and hopefully we can get on track Saturday night in Petaluma, CA.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Lamar will be in action in Petaluma, CA on Saturday night.
