PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard the F&F Racing Econo Lube-N-Tune & Brakes No. x1JR on Saturday night in Antioch, CA, Colby Copeland would fight forward after some late adversity and pocket a fifth place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“We had a really good car on Saturday night, but I just couldn’t seem to catch a break,” Copeland said. “We would make some passes but cautions seemed to negate our progress during the course of the feature event.”

Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/CRV Carbon Solutions machine in second fastest in his qualifying group and seventh quickest overall during time trials, Copeland would start and finish third in his heat race.

Not making it into the Dash, the Roseville, CA driver would line up in the sixth row for the scheduled 40-lap feature event. The race’s first 10-laps would go off glitch free and Copeland was able to make up some ground as he would work his way up to the seventh spot.

Using a restart, Copeland would make a big move to race his way into third, but the caution flag would fly before a lap was complete and Copeland’s efforts would be negated.

Back under green, Copeland would pick up a couple of positions as he got into the fifth spot by the 20th lap. A lap 20 restart would see two cars get together in front of Copeland and with nowhere to go he would get in on the action and be forced through the infield.

With no caution flag initially, Copeland would lose several positions as he fell back to ninth. With more stoppages and restarts, Copeland would race his way up to fifth just as the checkered flag waived on the 25th lap as the race had reached the state mandated 11pm curfew.

“The race got cut short, and we were lucky to get back up to where we were before we got collected on that one restart,” Copeland said. “We had a really good car, and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do this weekend.”

Copeland and F&F Racing would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2017.
