PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night to run with the Civil War Series, Justyn Cox turned in a strong performance, as he was able to finish third.

“We had an all around good night, and I feel like we are starting to string together some good runs with some big races on the horizon,” Justyn Cox said.

With 30 cars at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, Cox timed his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Fighting power steering issues in his heat race, Cox would finish in the fourth spot and earn a berth in the nightly Dash by way of his qualifying effort. Picking up a third place finish, the Clarksburg, CA driver would line up in the second row of the 30-lap Civil War Series feature event.

When the race went green, Cox would settle into the third spot as he chased after Colby Copeland and Shane Golobic who ran just ahead of him on what was a hooked up and rough Petaluma Speedway surface.

Getting into the second spot on a restart, Cox would feel pressure from Justin Sanders, and lose the spot a lap later, though he still would run in the third spot.

With laps clicking off at a torrid pace, Cox would challenge Sanders a few times, but would continue to hold down the show position. In the race’s closing laps, Cox would have his hands full with a charging Geoff Ensign, but would fend him off and take the checkered flag with a third place finish.

“Our engine got a little hot at the end of the race, so I hope it is okay, but other than that I was really pleased with how the night went,” Cox added. “The Civil War Series is highly competitive, so to run in the Top-Three with them it is a really good night.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, McColloch’s RV,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-48, Wins-3, Top 5’s-14, Top 10’s-19

ON TAP: Cox is scheduled to be back in action this Friday and Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA for the Fall Nationals.
