PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of his fifth place finish at the Toller Memorial, Willie Croft continued to show a ton of speed during the Silver Cup in Chico, CA, but a little bit of bad luck hindered him from having the results he was looking for.

“We have plenty of speed, and we are definitely showing that,” Croft said. “Friday night we went a little to far on our adjustments, and Saturday night we just had some bad luck leading the race.”

Setting the standard in qualifications on both Friday and Saturday night, Croft would go onto finish second in his Saturday night heat to safely transfer into the 30-lap feature event.

Sharing the front row with Tim Kaeding, Croft got the jump aboard his Holey Smokes BBQ/Butlerbuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 machine. The rough and tumble Silver Dollar Speedway wreaked havoc on cars early in the feature, as a trio of cautions plagued the first handful of laps.

Having a nose wing collapse on a restart as he bounced through a rut, Croft did not let it phase him as he remained strong out front keeping Kaeding at bay. On the ninth lap, Croft caught a rut and bicycled his machine, and as he came down the right front packed full of mud and he was unable to steer his machine, and parked in the infield, ending his night.

Winning his heat race on Friday night, Croft drew the seven pill in the redraw and lined up in the fourth row for the A Main.

The patchy track conditions made things technical, and made adjustments key, and Croft admittedly went to far on his before the feature event.

With most cars using the bottom of the speedway, Croft opted to get out of line and try to make the top work, but he was unable to go anywhere.

When the checkered flew on Friday night, Croft crossed the stripe with a 12th place finish.

“It was just one of those weekends, where things really did not go your way,” Croft said. “I have to thank both Zach’s for all of their hard work all weekend, and hopefully we can stay fast this weekend with the World of Outlaws.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, K&N, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, AIC Powdercoating, and GUTS for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1.

ON TAP: Croft returns to action this Friday and Saturday night as he travels to the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA to take on the World of Outlaws and compete in the KWS opener in what will be a co-sanctioned event.
