PETERSEN MEDIA: In action at the Williams Grove Speedway and at Port Royal over the weekend, Lance Dewease showed he was fine form at ‘The Port’ for the upcoming Living Legends Dream Race, as he charged from his 10th starting spot to finish fifth.
“We had an okay car at Port Royal, and we were able to work our way forward and get a top five out of it, and give us some good momentum heading into the ‘Dream’ race,” Dewease said.
Starting on the outside of the fifth row, Dewease got off to a steady start, as he stayed inside the Top-10 during the opening segment of the race, until the caution flew on the fifth lap.
Grabbing a couple of positions on the restart, Dewease worked his way into the sixth spot as the laps clicked off, and sat in that position when the race’s second and final caution flew on the 13th lap.
With the top four cars breaking away, Dewease worked into the fifth spot, in the closing markers, and as he got into the fifth he looked to chase down the lead back, but their advantage was too much to overcome on this night, and the Fayetteville, PA driver crossed the stripe with his 11th Top Five finish of the season.
On Friday night, Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports were back at the Williams Grove Speedway for the first time since capturing the Summer Nationals, and after winning his heat race, Dewease’s rear-end failed in the feature event, and his night came to an early end.
“We have a couple of races coming up this weekend, and then we all will take a little vacation and relax,” Dewease said. “It has been a grueling year, and everyone is working hard. We are gaining on it, and it was nice to close our weekend out with a Top-Five.”
