PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto put together another strong weekend in the Tri-C Motorsports entry that saw him finish fifth during the Fall Nationals: Tribute To Stephen Allard on Saturday night in Chico, CA.

“Friday night we missed it a little in the feature event and couldn’t really get going, but my guys made some changes during the day Saturday that helped a lot and we were in the mix all night,” DJ Netto said.

With 57 cars in the pit area on Friday night, Netto timed the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 3c machine in 14th quickest in his qualifying flight.

With the field split into two flights, the Hanford, CA driver would line up seventh in his heat race and make some nice moves that saw him finish fourth and move into the 30-lap feature event.

Lining up 20th on the grid in the feature event, the track proved to be racy and it allowed Netto to make up some ground. Working his way up to 17th in the opening laps Netto would use a double file restart to propel him self up to the 15th position.

As the race continued on Netto would hold strong in the 15th spot until a late caution bunched the field back up. Nailing his restart again, Netto would move up to 12th, and that is where he would close out the Fall Nationals opener.

Coming back on Saturday night, Netto would get off to a great start as he would actually tie for quick time in his time trial flight, but would officially be scored second quickest as the tie breaker didn’t go in his favor.

Lining up fourth in his heat, Netto would get up to the second position and challenge Bud Kaeding for the top spot, but would settle for second which punched himself a ticket into the nightly Dash where an eighth place finish put him in the fourth row.

With a lot of cars again in the pit area, the track got abrasive as the night went on. Working it just before the feature, rubber was still imminent and passing would be tough, though Netto would get some positions early. Working in the rubber, Netto would work into the sixth position where he would take the checkered flag before being moved up to fifth as a driver was deemed for jumping the last restart ahead of him.

“I really have to thank Lee, Brian, Dave, Brandon, and everyone else who worked hard all weekend long, and put a very good car on the track Saturday night,” Netto said. “I also have to thank Clyde and Marion Lamar, as well as my family, for their continued support and continuing to give me a great opportunity to compete.”

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-55, Wins-3, Top 5’s-23, Top 10’s-33
