PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto is picking the right time of the year to get hot in California. With October bringing on some marquee events, Netto continues to run up front as he finished second on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway before a hard fought fifth place run at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Saturday night.

“To run so well together so soon is pretty cool,” DJ Netto said in regards to the Tri-C Motorsports team. “My guys give me a great car night in and night out, and I think our first win is near.”

Kicking his weekend off at Ocean Speedway on Friday night with the King of the West Series, Netto would time the Tri-C Machine/All American Powder Coating/Shell Rotella T6 entry in third quickest in time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, Netto would move on to the night’s Dash where a third place finish would line him up in the second row for the 30-lap affair.

A very strong showing in the first 22-laps of the feature event would see Netto mix it up with the leaders as he ran some great laps in search of his first win of the season. A late restart would change the complexion of the race, and able to avoid the melee, Netto would find himself in the second spot with a few laps to go.

Chasing after Justin Sanders in the final laps of the feature, Netto would score a season best second place finish with the KWS.

Turning his attention to the Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night, Netto would open the night up by timing in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing second in heat race action, Netto would move into the Dash where a charge from seventh to fourth would put him in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Netto would get off to a good start, as he held his own inside the Top-Five. Moving into the third spot just before the race reached the halfway point, Netto would get into the vaunted Thunderbowl wall and cause some damage to his front suspension.

Able to continue on, Netto would fall back outside of the Top-10, but would keep calm. Simply manhandling his machine through the field, the Hanford, CA would work his way back forward and pick up a hard fought fifth place finish.

“I made a mistake and got into the wall and caused some damage,” Netto said. “We had a good car, and event with a bent axle and a broken shock we were still able to move forward and get back up to fifth. Huge thanks to Clyde and Marion Lamar, as well as Lee and Shane for all of their hard work.”

ON TAP: Netto at the Tri-C Motorsports team will spend the upcoming weekend in Hanford, CA as they take part in both nights of the Cotton Classic.
