PETERSEN MEDIA- Making the trip to Chico, CA to take part in the Civil War Series’ Gold Cup and the new Platinum Cup, Andy Forsberg and team would have a great showing as they ran fifth on Wednesday night before an issues on a restart plagued them on Thursday.

“We had a good car both nights, and I have to thank all of these guys for working hard,” Andy Forsberg said. “Wednesday night the track took rubber on lap ½ or so and we got in line and settled. Thursday we were moving up, the track was a blast but we packed the left rear full of mud after nearly getting over on a restart.”

With 46 cars checked into the Silver Dollar Speedway pit area on Wednesday night to open the 65th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions, Forsberg threw down in qualifying as he ended up earning the Petersen Media Fast Time Award.

Running fourth in his heat race, Forsberg would advance to the Dash where the eight pill lined him up scratch on the field. Getting a couple of positions, the Auburn, CA pilot finished sixth and rolled off the starting grid from the third row on a surface that was already taking rubber before the green flag flew.

Getting in line, Forsberg would take over the fifth position where he would mix it up with Justin Sanders and Sean Becker at times. Keeping his tires in the rubber, Forsberg would baby them enough to survive all 30-laps as he finished fifth.

Returning to the speedway on Thursday night, Forsberg would time the Econo Lube-N-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed entry in fourth quickest which would automatically lock him into the 30-lap feature event as well as the Fast Dash with the format in use on this night.

Finishing fifth in the Dash, Forsberg would line up ninth in the feature event with the heat winners lining up in front of the Dash cars. Working his way forward, an early restart would see Forsberg nearly get over but he would be able to keep the rubber side down.

Packing his left rear full of mud, Forsberg would head back to the work area, and ultimately call it a night.

“It was a fun couple of nights with the F&F guys trying some things and running the unique format,” Forsberg added. “Saturday night we get back to Placerville and will have some more fun.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
