PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Stockton Dirt Track, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing survived a wild feature event that saw Forsberg make a few trips to the work area before finishing 11th.
“It was a pretty gnarly track that was super-fast and super rough,” Andy Forsberg said. “I made a pretty cool move in our heat race to lock into the feature event, and in the feature, we started out way too tight, and needed to make a couple of pit stops to get our car better.”
With 48 360’s checked in for the Tribute To GP on Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Forsberg would actually tie for fifth quick in his qualifying group but with the tie breaker he would end up sixth and in the sixth starting position for heat race action.
On an extremely fast Stockton Dirt Track, Forsberg nailed the start and worked his way all the way up to third in the race’s opening lap. Hanging on to third, Forsberg would transfer directly into the 25-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position.
Following a yellow on the race’s opening lap, the ensuring restart would see Forsberg get up over the edge of turns three and four and spin his machine to a stop.
Going to the work area for adjustments, Forsberg would restart the race, however another yellow flag by another competitor would see the Auburn, CA driver dip back into the work area for another tweak.
A red on the sixth lap again saw Forsberg dip into the work area for another adjustment, and this would prove to be it as he would start working his way forward once racing resumed following an ‘open red’ fuel stop.
From the back of the pack, Forsberg would work his way forward and would find himself up in 10th in the race’s final laps. Looking to be well on his way to a Top-10, Shane Golobic would actually sneak by Forsberg on the race’s final lap and give Forsberg an 11th place finish in the feature event.
“The F&F guys worked really hard all night long, and we almost salvaged the night with a Top-10,” Forsberg said. “I think we may have another race on the schedule, but in these times we never really know if anything will get shutdown before then. Big thanks to the guys and our partners for all of their continued hard work and support.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, Huggins Cams, PitStopUSAC, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2020.
