PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking to put an exclamation point on a great year at Placerville Speedway over the weekend during the two-day extravaganza with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour billed as the Nor Cal Posse Shootout, Andy Forsberg and the F&F Racing team would have nearly identical nights as they finished sixth on Friday night and seventh on Saturday night.

“It was a pretty good weekend for our team,” Andy Forsberg said. “I thought we were as fast as the guys up front both nights, but when you start as far back as we did it is hard to get up there and pass them.”

The 2018 Placerville Speedway Track Champion checked in at Placerville Speedway Friday night for opening night of the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout where he would time the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in second quickest in his group and third quickest overall in time trials.

Needing to win his heat from his second row starting position in his heat, the Auburn, CA driver would end up finishing fourth which placed him in the 13th starting position in the feature event.

On the slick surface with a thick cushion built up on both ends of the speedway, Forsberg would get his elbows up as he slowly worked his way forward and into the Top-10.

Nearing a top-five in the race’s closing laps, Forsberg would come up just short as he settled for sixth when the dust settled on the opening night of the two-day event.

Saturday night saw Forsberg and company check back in at Placerville Speedway where he would find himself in quite the stout qualifying group. Ending up sixth in his group, Forsberg would go from sixth to fourth in his heat race to again punch his ticket directly into the feature event.

With track prep going on prior to the feature, Forsberg and crew watched intently hoping the work would lead to a multi grooved surface. When the race came to life, that appeared to be the case, and it benefitted Forsberg who was able to work his way forward from his 15th starting position.

Turning in an impressive performance on a slick surface that he admits is not his forte, Forsberg closed the weekend out with a nice charge up to seventh.

“Both night’s it was really slick and not really my style of surface, but the F&F guys gave me a really good car and we were able to make it work.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.

ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing are set for another action packed weekend as they will be in Chico, CA Friday and Saturday for the Fall Nationals.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-27, Wins-7, Top 5’s-14, Top 10’s-21.
