PETERSEN MEDIA- Though a formality, when Andy Forsberg and his F&F Racing signed into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night they officially became the 2018 Track Champions at Placerville Speedway. Despite having the title locked up, Forsberg and crew were hungry for their eighth win of the season but a part failure late in the race would spoil the party for the team.

“It is always a little bit of a bummer when you have a bad night when you’er supposed to celebrate a championship, but we didn’t let it rain on our parade too much, “Andy Forsberg said. “We had a really good car, and were in the thick of things with Sanders and Becker for the lead, but we had a part break and end our  night.”

25 winged 360ci entries made their way to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to take part in the speedway’s regular season finale and the 2018 Track Champion would kick his night off by timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Offic/PitStopUSA machine in third fastest in time trials.

Putting himself in the second row of his heat race, a third place finish moved the Auburn, CA driver into the feature event redraw where Jimmy Wall’s four pill lined him up in the second row for the final points paying 25-lap feature event of the season at the ¼ mile bullring.

When the action came to life, Forsberg became engaged in a torrid battle with Justin Sanders, and long time rival, Sean Becker. As the trio waged war on one and other in front of the enthused crowd, lap 16 would bring bad luck for Forsberg would would be forced into the pit area as the yellow flew for Becker who had issues of his own.

Upon making it to the pit area, the crew deemed their night over, and Forsberg would retire to the trailer and be scored in the 18th position.

“These guys have worked hard all year, and we still have one more weekend to see if we can get back into victory lane at Placerville again and score our first SCCT win,” Forsberg added. “Thanks to everyone who makes this possible for us.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
