PETERSEN MEDIA- Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing kicked off their pursuit of the 2018 Placerville Speedway Track Championship on Saturday night during the 15th Annual Tribute to Al Hinds with a hard fought third place finish.
“We got our night started off on a good note earning quick time honors, but we were just so-so in the feature event,” Andy Forsberg said. “We have some work to do, but I am extremely confident in my team.”
Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine in quickest amongst all of the qualifiers on Saturday night, Forsberg would grid the field from the second row in his heat race.
On a hooked up and fast Placerville Speedway surface early in the night, Forsberg would finish third in the heat before the five pill put him in the third row for the 25-lap ‘A’ Main Event.
As the night moved along the track would widen out and slick off becoming very racy for the feature event. When things came to life, the Auburn, CA driver would jump into the fourth position in the race’s early laps before taking over third on the ninth circuit.
Chasing down after the leaders, Forsberg would line up in the second row for the race’s first double-file restart on the 12th lap. The restart would prove to be unkind to the former Placerville Speedway champion as he would fall back to fifth as he navigate around the familiar ¼ mile.
Lap 21 would be pivotal in the race as a whole as a couple of incidents up front would give Forsberg a few positions as found himself back up in third. In the race’s final four place, Forsberg would chase after Jimmy Trulli, but on this night he would settle for the final position on the podium.
“It is great to finish on the podium, but we kind of lucked into it,” Forsberg added. “My guys will work on getting us even better in the feature so instead of battling for Top-Five’s we will be back up front battling for wins. Thanks to everyone for their support and hard work.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing will travel to Petaluma, CA on Saturday night for another round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action.
