PETERSEN MEDIA- Shane Golobic continues to be a model of consistency with Tarlton Motorsports. Taking part in two more King of the West races over the weekend, Golobic and company were able to pick up two more podium finishes as the Fremont, CA driver finished third at Ocean Speedway on Friday night and second at Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night.

“It was another really strong weekend with two more podium finishes,” Shane Golobic said. “Tom, Tommy, Paul, and Tyrone gave me a great car both nights and I am really happy with the consistency we have had this year, and am happy we are constantly in the mix for wins.”

Kicking the a busy weekend off on Friday night at Ocean Speedway for the Pombo/Sargent Classic, Golobic would time the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape Construction entry in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Golobic would battle hard with Justin Sanders for the top spot as he would need to win the heat and have some help to make the Dash. Settling for a second place finish, Golobic would safely transfer into the feature event but it would be from back in the 12th starting position.

On the slick Ocean Speedway racing surface, Golobic would turn in a very strong performance as he used his years of experience getting around the ¼ mile bullring. The former Ocean Speedway Track Champion would carve his way forward through traffic as he fought to finish third on this night.

Making the trip to Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night for another round of KWS action, Golobic would get off to a very nice start as he timed in fourth fastest amongst the 17 cars that were checked into the pit area for the Wine Country Classic.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Golobic would finish third which would be goo enough to lock him into the Dash on this night. Picking up the win in the Dash, Golobic would lead the field to green to start the 25-lap feature event.

Getting off to a great start, Golobic would pace the field early as Kyle Hirst would move into the second position and begin challenging for the top spot. Able to keep his biggest challenger at bay, a yellow on the 14th lap would put Hirst on his rear bumper.

The ensuing restart would see Golobic make a slight miscue and it would allow Hirst to get by for the top spot as Golobic slipped back to second. Keeping pace with Hirst over the final 10-circuits, Golobic would be unable to get back by the leader as he closed his weekend out with a second place finish.

“This team deserves wins and I keep saying it, but I need to continue to be a little bit better,” Golobic added. “Losing the lead on a restart at Calistoga stung a little bite because I feel like we had a car capable of winning. Looking forward, I am excited to get to Placerville this week for the first time in the 21X. It is a track I have done well at, and this team has also ran well there.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Yokut Gas, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 10, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 10, Top 10’s: 10.
