PETERSEN MEDIA- With the curtain falling on the Placerville Speedway regular season Saturday night, Greg DeCaires turned in a very strong performance as he charged from 13th to finish fifth as he ended up second in the track’s point championship.

With 29 cars checked into the scenic ¼ mile facility nestled in the foothills, DeCaires opened his night up by timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino backed No. 4SA machine in ninth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, it would be veteran versus youngster, as DeCaires would find himself in a dogfight with Michael Kofoid for the win and the important redraw position.

Coming up just short, DeCaires would finish in the second spot which was good enough to transfer him into the feature, but he would start a little further back than what was desired.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, DeCaires had a very drivable racecar that saw him crack the Top-10 in the race’s first three laps. Working into ninth on the sixth lap, DeCaries would use a lap 10-restart to jump up and take over seventh in the running order.

Soon finding him self in sixth on the 12th lap, Decaires would find himself battling with another youngster in the name of Tony Gualda. Decaires and Gualda would race back and forth throwing different moves at each other, and in the end experience won out as DeCaires would finish fifth at the checkered flag and end up second in Placerville Speedway points.

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Thompson’s Auto Center, RedHawk Casino, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, King Racing Products, Smith Titanium, Amerikote, Motion Media Wraps, Hangtown Sheet Metal & Fabrication, Vortex Wings, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, El Dorado Hills Landscape, Anrak Corporation, and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.
