PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Gregg spent his Friday night closing out the 2014 weekly season at the Silver Dollar Speedway by scoring a fifth place finish, and finishing sixth in points, though he missed a race for his Knoxville trip.
“Overall it was a good night of racing for us, and really a nice season at the Silver Dollar Speedway this year,” Gregg said.
With some extra faces on hand to take advantage of one final night of preperations prior to the Gold Cup Race of Champions, Gregg timed his Miller Fortune/Poor’s Equipment Repair/K&N backed No. 53 machine in second fastest.
Picking up a third place finish in heat race action, Gregg would line up in the fourth row for the feature event, in what would be an action packed race.
On an immaculately prepared surface, Gregg was able to get moving towards the front as he battled with Andy Forsberg for the fourth spot.
Continuing to jockey for position amidst lapped traffic, Gregg would take the checkered flag with a fifth place finish, after numerous attempts on Forsberg for the fourth spot.
“We were really consistent at Silver Dollar Speedway all year, and hopefully we can transfer what we were able to accomplish to Gold Cup week, and have another good showing at that race,” Gregg added. “I just really have to thank all of our sponsors who have supported this 53 car all year, and all of the people that have helped us with it all year long.”
