Gregg Gritty at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Enduring some damage on the eighth lap that forced him to the work area, Andy Gregg would turn in a gritty performance at Placerville Speedway that saw him charge from 20th to sixth in just 17 laps.

“We had a fast racecar, and we were in a good position all night,” Andy Gregg said. “Unfortunately some damage to our left front caliper mount forced me to the work area and put us at the back of the pack but we were able to come from the back and finish sixth.”

Timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol ACE Hardware backed No. 16 entry in second quickest in qualifying time trials at the famed ¼ mile bullring, Gregg would advance from fourth to second in heat race action and make himself eligible for the nightly redraw.

Pulling the one pill, Gregg would lead the field to green for the 25-lap feature event on a very well prepared Placerville Speedway surface. Slipping back to third as he battled with Andy Forsberg and Billy Wallace, issues would force him to slow on the eighth lap.

Going to the work area, the GUTS Racing crew would remove the left front brake caliper due to the mount being damaged. Able to restart from the tail end of the field, Gregg would showcase a very strong entry as he worked his way back through the fray.

Able to work the thick Placerville Speedway cushion, Gregg would slice and dice his way through the field as he picked up a sixth place finish aboard the Crane Inspection Agency/Ice House Resort/CTL Forest Management No. 16 mount.

“Thanks to my guys for all their hard work and doing a great job of getting us back on the track,” Gregg added. “It is a bummer to have to go to the back after running up front, but it is also great to know we had a good enough car to rebound like we did.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Crane Inspection Agency, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.

ON TAP: Andy Gregg will be idle this weekend before returning to Placerville Speedway on August 18th for the Mark Forni Classic.
