PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway after an extended break, Andy Gregg turned in a very strong performance at the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout that saw him finish sixth during Saturday night’s finale.

“As little as we have raced this year, to come out and compete with guys who have ran two, three times as much as us this year really means a lot to myself and our team,” Andy Gregg said. “We had some good speed all weekend and I am pretty happy with a sixth place finish.”

Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, the driver of the GUTS/Angius and Terry/Capitol Ace Hardware machine timed his No. 16 entry in fourth quickest in his time trials group which was good enough to put him on the front row of his heat race.

A hard fought battle with DJ Netto saw the Diamond Springs, CA driver get the advantage as he picked up the win and moved into the Dash where a third place finish put him in the second row to start the 35-lap Nor-Cal Posse Shootout feature event.

When the race came to life, Gregg would slip back a few positions but would keep his GUTS Racing entry well inside the Top-10 for the duration of the race. Continuing to battle hard lap after lap, Gregg would work his way back up to close his weekend out with a sixth place finish after nailing a late restart.

Also in action on Friday night, Gregg would time in seventh quickest in his group which placed him seventh in the starting line up for heat race action. Making some nice moves in his heat, Gregg would race his way to a fifth place finish which would be good enough to transfer him directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Lining up 17th in the feature event, a very slick and racy surface would see the veteran driver work his way forward over the course of the night trying to race his way into the Top-10.

Searching around different lines, Gregg would find a few things that worked for him as he took the Friday night checkered flag with an 11th place finish.

“It felt good to get back in this car, and represent all of our amazing partners,” Gregg said. “Again, really huge accomplishment for our team to hold our own and race so well despite running such a limited schedule this year.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Crane Inspection Agency, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.
