PETERSEN MEDIA- Even though his three-race King of the West win streak came to a close on Saturday night, Kyle Hirst put together a very strong weekend that saw him put his Roth Motorsports entry on a paid of podiums while competing in Central California over the weekend.

“Racing in the Roth Motorsports team’s backyard all weekend, it was great to run well, and be in contention on both nights, “Kyle Hirst said. “We wanted badly to win the Peter Murphy Classic, but it was great to see Aaron Reutzel pick the win up for this organization.”

Hitting the Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night for the Second Annual Peter Murphy Classic, Kyle Hirst would get off to a nice start as he timed his Roth Motorsports tribute to Peter Murphy No. 1nz machine in fifth fastest.

Finishing in the second spot during his heat race, the Chico, CA driver would have a little bit of luck on his side on Saturday night as he was able to sneak into the special Australian rules Pole Shuffle that was used in place of the Dash on this night.

Finding himself with the two-pill, Hirst would end Jason Meyers’ four-match win streak to advance into the finals where he would come up just short the Carson Macedo and finish second, still starting on the front row for the 30-lap feature event.

As the green flag dropped, Hirst would find himself chasing after Jason Meyers during the race’s first few laps until the red flag flew on the second lap causing a lengthy delay.

A yellow a lap after the race restarted would set up a 14-lap green-flag run that saw Hirst and Meyers battle back and forth for the top spot as Hirst stayed committed to the high side of the speedway.

Following a caution on the lap 17 restart, Hirst would continue to hound Meyers for the race lead but would feel pressure for the second spot by the way of his Roth Motorsports teammate, Aaron Reutzel.

Fending Reutzle off for four laps, Hirst would fall back to the third spot on a lap 21 restart as he then sat in the cat birds seat as the two leaders battled in the closing laps.

Making a late surge, Hirst would come up just short and finish the Peter Murphy Classic with a third place finish.

Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team kicked their weekend off on Friday night competing in a 360ci event at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.

A tricky track surface on this night would see two-time and defending KWS champion also finish in the third spot.

“We were awesome both nights and I really have to thank this entire Roth Motorsports team for their hard work,” Hirst said. “Dennis and Teresa Roth have been great to me over the last few seasons and though we could not get them another win over the weekend, we were pleased with how things went.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
