PETERSEN MEDIA- Kyle Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team were back in action with the King of the West Series on Saturday night as they were again in action at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for the Cotton Classic.

“We had a really fast racecar, and should have been better than fifth,” Hirst explained.

Leading the field to the green flag after picking up the dash win, Hirst was very strong, as he rocketed away from the field, as he took a liking to the high side of the speedway.

With Bud Kaeding challenging him early in the race using the low line, Hirst was able to keep his momentum up, as he held Kaeding at bay, and continued to lead the field.

Making up his time in three and four, Hirst was able to find grip and speed, lap after lap, as he flexed his muscles and began checking out from the competition aboard his the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83JR.

With the red flag waiving on the 15th lap, the field was bunched back up into double file formation, and went the action came back to life, DJ Netto was able to get the jump on Hirst, and Hirst found himself in the second spot for the first time all night.

Continuing to ride the rim in pursuit of Netto, Hirst got into the wall a little too hard, causing damage to his right rear, bringing out the caution.

Restarting from the tail end of the field with just nine-laps to go, Hirst was able to show the same speed he showed all night as he put on quite a show as he worked his way back up to a fifth place finish at the stripe.

“I was just relentlessly going after DJ (Netto) and got up in the wall a little too hard,” Hirst said. “We were so fast all night, and it shows how strong this team is. I have to thank all the guys for their hard work, and hopefully we can be as fast as we have been here at Tulare this weekend for the Trophy Cup.

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
