PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking on the IRA series two more times over the last week, Ian Madsen would run well again as he finished second on Wednesday night in Joliet, IL before a fifth place finish on Friday night in Spencer, IA.

“We had another really good weekend that saw us pick up two more Top-Five finishes,” Ian Madsen said. “My guys continue to work hard, and this thing really is a pleasure to drive.”

Getting the night kicked off in a big way on Wednesday night, Ian Madsen was able to time the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring No. 18 entry in quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row in heat race competition, Madsen would pick up one position as he finished third and successfully transferred into the feature event at the Route 66 Dirt Track.

Pulling the two pill in the redraw, Madsen would take the green flag alongside IRA stand out, Bill Balog. When the green flag was displayed to the field, Madsen would actually fall back to third where he ran for the first handful of laps.

Getting back to second on the eighth lap, Madsen would flex his muscle as he chased after Balog but the caution flag seemed to waive each time he made a bid for the race lead. Getting one shot at the win, Madsen would attempt a big time move but Balog was able to answer the challenge and Madsen went on to finish in second.

Traveling to Spencer, IA on Friday night, Madsen would again time in well as he timed the Greenland Homes/Team Excavating/TammyHeckart.Com backed car in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials before running third in his heat race.

The redraw was not too kind to the St. Marys, NSW wheelman as the nine pill placed him in the fifth row on a extremely dry-slick racing surface. Taking rubber early in the race. Madsen was still able to show some speed outside of the rubber as he was able to methodically gain track position.

Working quickly, Madsen would get up to fifth before settling in and riding the rest of the night out.

“Friday night we had a good car, but the track didn’t really allow us to showcase it much,” Madsen added. “Looking forward to getting this thing to Eldora Speedway this weekend to race with the Outlaws and the All Stars.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
