PETERSEN MEDIA- For the second consecutive weekend, Mother Nature put a hold on the Knoxville Raceway season opener, and with an IRA race rescheduled for Sunday night in Beaver Dam, WI, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team made the tow and picked up a second place finish.

“The weather has been brutal in our area, and with the race in Beaver Dam, WI getting pushed back to Sunday, we made the decision to make the trip and race,” Ian Madsen said.

Timing his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors No. 18 machine in second quickest in qualifying time trials, the 2014 Knoxville Raceway Champion would line up in the third row of his heat race. On a very fast surface due to the rain the track had taken on, Madsen was able to carve his way forward and finish in the third spot, moving into the Jim Wipperfurth Memorial feature event.

Following the redraw, Madsen would find himself with the seven pill, and in the fourth row of the feature event. With the track crew continuing to work on the track, and get it racy, Madsen and his team set their machine up for a sticky surface, but the actually went the other way, and began to slick off.

With his car not handling well on the surface, Madsen used his veteran savvy to adjust what he could from his seat, and manage to work his car forward, and toward the lead pack.

Getting into the second spot, Madsen began challenging race leader, Billy Balog, as he stalked his every move. Coming up just short, Madsen would be pleased with his second place finish.

“We flat missed the set up, but were still able to have a great run, and that is something we were all happy with,” Madsen added. “I was pleased we were able to find somewhere to run, and to run well makes it that much better. Hopefully the weather in the Knoxville area gets better, and we can kick the season off there this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP acing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc. Heating and Cooling, Bobcat, The Stone Shop, Gator Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Van Gorp Construction, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc.,  Speck USA, Kustom Concrete Pumping, Lucas Oil, Revolution Race Gear, INSPRO Insurance, Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge, Climate Master- Geothermal Heating and Cooling,  XXX Race Co., Wings Unlimited for their support this season.
