PETERSEN MEDIA- Jace Vander Weerd will be the first to tell you that the Perris Auto Speedway has not been a strong track for him over the years. In 2015, Vander Weerd is putting together some of his best runs ever at the speedway, and on Saturday night he recorded his 11th Top-10 of the season.

“It was great to get a Top-10 during the 40-lapper, and it was just as cool to see Richard get another win on Saturday night,” Jace Vander Weerd noted.

24 cars checked into the Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night for the ‘Salute To Indy’, and Vander Weerd would get his night started off by timing the Mid Valley Pipe/Basic Industries/SWE No. 88 machine in 10th fastest.

Following a sixth place finish in heat race action, the Visalia, CA driver would line his machine up in the fifth row for the 40-lap affair.

In the early goings of the race, Vander Weerd was able to get his machine moving forward, as he fought his way forward, as he sat in the seventh spot when the red flag flew 12-laps into the feature event.

When the race came back to life, the action would be just as intense as it was in the first part of the race, as Vander Weerd would find himself back in the 10th spot, battling with AJ Bender and Cody Swanson.

In tight knit racing, Vander Weerd would stay in the Top-10, as he closed the 40-lap event with a 10th place finish.

“It is a tough field of cars there, and it is really tough to crack to Top-5,” Vander Weerd noted. “I have been getting much better at the Perris Auto Speedway personally, and am pleased with how we ran, but I am looking forward to getting back in the winged car and racing close to home this weekend.”

Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Battery Worx, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Raceway and K&N for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-15, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-11.

ON TAP: Jace will be back in action on Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway with for the first of four Battle For the Milk Can events, before running with the USAC West Coast 360 series on Saturday night at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA.
