PETERSEN MEDIA: Ending his 2021 season competing with Mittry Motorsports, Justin Sanders opened his 2022 season with a bigger schedule running for the Northern California based team and proceeded to pick up a fourth-place finish during his first race of the season at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.

“Saturday night was a pretty good night for us,” Justin Sanders said. “We had good speed in both our cars. Unfortunately while running third in the 360ci race, we had an issue arise and ended our night, but to were still able to run 4th with the 410ci car.”

Running double duty at the Dave Helm Memorial in the Farmers Brewing/Mittry Construction/North County Plastering No. 2x machine, Sanders would get things underway by timing in fifth fastest in 360ci competition.

Running second in his heat race to Dominic Scelzi, Sanders would earn a spot in the nightly Dash where his fourth-place finish put him in the second row to open the 30-lap feature event.

From the second row, Sanders would run fourth in the opening stanzas until he was able to race his way into third as he chased after Dominic Scelzi and Chase Majdic.

A restart on the 5th lap would prove pivotal to Sanders as he would slow after taking the green flag and be forced to take his machine back to the pit area.

While his night in the 360ci didn’t quite end as hoped, Sanders still had a strong night in 410ci action as he timed the Mittry Motorsports mount in fifth fastest as well.

Able to race his way to a win in heat race competition, Sanders would win the Dash, however the inversion for the feature event would place him in the second row for the 30-lap finale.

With the track being extremely fast and a stout field assembled on this night, passing would prove tough however Sanders would hold his own from the second row.

When the green flag dropped, Sanders would settle into fourth as he chased after Shane Golobic who ran in third ahead of him. On the fast surface, the leaders were able to quickly reach the back of the pack which would create some opportunity to jockey for position.

Though he made a couple of runs at third, Sanders would cap his night off with a fourth-place finish.

“I am looking forward to the season ahead with Mittry Motorsports and am excited for this opportunity,” Sanders added. “Definitely pleased with how things went on Saturday night.”

Justin and his team would like to thank Farmers Brewing, Mittry Construction, North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2021.
