Justyn Cox Charges Through Field for Eighth Place Finish

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Placerville Speedway for the first time since picking up a win two weeks ago, Justyn Cox had another bad fast race car underneath him. Making an early mistake while charging forward form 10th, Cox would rebound from the back of the pack to score an eighth-place finish.

“We had a great car, but unfortunately I made a mistake trying to get a position,” Justyn Cox said. “We went to the back and showed how good we were as I was still able to get back up to an eighth-place finish.”

A total of 31 cars were on hand Saturday night for Kings Meats night at Placerville Speedway, and Cox would get his Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber/Lund Construction mount timed in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Making a couple of nice moves at the start of his heat race, Cox would jump into second as he chased after youngster, Dylan Bloomfield. Able to get alongside Bloomfield on a couple of occasions as he looked to a spot in the redraw, Cox would come up short and finish second.

Still moving into the feature event, Cox would find himself back in the 10th starting position for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Cox would go to work as he began working his way forward toward the Top-Five. Using the Placerville Speedway cushion, Cox raced his way into fifth on the ninth lap.

Looking for fourth, Cox would get his right rear tire up over the cushion on the 13th lap, and it would result in his bringing his machine to a stop and forcing him to the tail end of the field.

Restarting 19th, Cox would get his elbows back up as he would make a some more big moves and find himself back in the Top-10 in just five laps.

Taking the 10th position over on the 18th lap, Cox would move up into the eighth following a restart on lap 19. Battling with Joe Myers, Jr in the closing laps, Cox would get up into seventh, but Myers would get back by him coming to the checkered and Cox would cap his night off with an eighth place finish.

“I really have to thank Cody and the guys who work on this deal,” Cox added. “We have been really good at Placerville the last couple of weeks, and I am really excited about this Bradway this weekend. Having a blast with Cody and Mandi, and hoping to pick up some of these big races that are coming up.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will bet right back to it on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
