Kalib Henry Nets SCCT Top 5

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports kicked their 2021 campaign off as Henry raced his way to a fifth-place finish in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour opener.

“We had good speed early, I just felt a little off and a little rusty,” Kalib Henry said. “We timed in okay, and raced into the feature event and came away with a Top-5 which is good opening night.”

Timing the McColloch’s RV Repair/Express Sewer and Drain/Davis Painting backed No. 17 machine in third fastest in his qualifying group, Henry would line up on the front row of his heat race.

With the track still fast for heat race action, Henry would settle into second as he gave chase to Andy Forsberg. Unable to find a way past Forsberg, Henry would settle for a second-place finish which placed him ninth on the starting grid for the 35-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Henry would run a patient race as he machine was on the tight side with the track still fast. Playing the long game, Henry’s car would slowly come to him though passing would still prove to be tough.

A late red flag turned into an open red and it allowed for the Henry’s crew to make some adjustments on his machine. The adjustment’s proved to be beneficial for the Mather, CA driver as he was able to pick up a couple of positions in the final seven laps and close his night out with a fifth-place finish.

“Normally I wouldn’t be too excited with a fifth-place finish, but with how rusty I felt it was a really good end result for us,” Henry added. “We had speed all night and that has me really excited for the next SCCT race in Petaluma, CA. Big thanks to Nick and Kerry McColloch for allowing me to driver their car, my dad for his wealth of knowledge, and all of the partners that support this team.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Express Sewer and Drain, Davis Truck Painting, ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, ADCO Driveline, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 1, Wins: 0, Top-5’s: 1, Top-10’s- 1

ON TAP: McColloch Motorsports and Henry will return to action together on April 24th in Petaluma, CA.
