(PETERSEN MEDIA)- With numerous midget starts under his belt across the country, Kevin Woody made the move up so a full sized sprint car on Saturday night as he took the wheel of the GWR No. 95 machine at Santa Maria Speedway in Western RaceSaver 305ci action.

“I think it went really well,” Woody said. “I am a pretty quick learner and I feel like I am a couple of more races away from being competitive. Big thanks to Tim Williams and his team for all of their hard work.”

In what were his first laps in a full sized 305ci sprint car, Woody would get faster each and every time he hit the track in the Speedway Motors/CS9/System 1 backed machine.

Timing in 10th fastest in time trials, Woody would lay down some quick laps in his heat race that saw him nearly mirror the fastest lap of the race. Moving into the feature event, Woody would line up in the 10th spot as he continued to acclimate to the ever changing track surface and the bigger car.

As the leaders opened it up early, Woody would continue to gain confidence and speed as he would stay on pace in the race’s early laps. Developing a fuel leak, Woody would be forced to pull back into the pit area and end his feature early.

“I would love to get back out and run more races with GWR, and hopefully we can fit that in our schedule again,” Woody added. “Like I said, I was pleased with how it went, I was a little surprised with how much power the 305ci had, and feel confident enough that I could really get up to speed with  a few more races under my belt.”

GWR would like to thank Speedway Motors, CS9, System1, F&J Schott Trucking, Hoosier, Simpson, ButlerBuilt, Capitol Renegade, David Williams Welding, Petersen Media, Fagundes Auto Body, Blanchard Dozing, and Willwood Brakes for their support.
