KWS Podium for Mitchell Faccinto and Tarlton Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Essentially going to school with the World of Outlaws for the month of March, Mitchell Faccinto and Tarlton Motorsports were able to use that to their advantage during Saturday night’s King of the West season opener as the Hanford, CA driver picked up a third-place finish.

“Laying down a lap like we did in qualifying despite going out late was huge,” Mitchell Faccinto said. “With the track the way it was, passing was tough so it was crucial to put yourself in position all night, and we did just that.”

25 cars checked into the Stockton Dirt Track for the series’ season opener, and Faccinto got things kicked off by timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up fourth in his heat race on the extremely slick racing surface, Faccinto would settle into fourth as the race came to life. Hanging on to finish fourth, Faccinto would tally enough points to qualify for the Dash where he would finish fifth.

Based on the finishing spot in the Dash, Faccinto would take the green flag from the third row for the season opening 30-lap feature event on a regroomed surface that was extremely fast.

Despite the race getting off to a slow start with a couple of early cautions, Faccinto would be one of the few who was able to pick up positions. Once he got into third, he began to chase after Dominic Scelzi who ran ahead of him in second.

In the race’s closing laps, Faccinto would apply heavy pressure to Scelzi for the runner up spot but was unable to find a way around him and ended the race with a third-place finish.

“I felt like we made improvements on the car all night, which got me more comfortable and allowed me to make some good moves on restarts,” Faccinto said. “I am confident we can find a little more and contend for wins this weekend in Tulare, CA and Hanford, CA.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 8, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 3.

ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto will be in action on Friday night in Tulare, CA and on Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
