PETERSEN MEDIA: Following the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for the series’ fourth event of the season, Kyle Hirst looked to be well on his way to another Top-Five until he would catch a rut on a late restart and fall back to finish ninth.

“We had a really good car all night long, and our finish really isn’t indicative of where we should have been,” Hirst said. “We bounced around the Top-Five all night, but I caught a rut on a late restart and it bit us pretty hard.”

Fresh off of a podium at the Asparagus Cup, Hirst continued to showcase speed aboard the Tiner Hirst Enterprise/Larry Davis Farms/GP Development machine as he would timed in third quickest in his time trial group.

A very entertaining heat race would see the Paradise, CA pilot get the elbows up and surge to a win, which would be important as he transferred him into the all-important Dash.

Starting fourth in the Dash, Hirst would fall back to as far as sixth at one point but would get past Geoff Ensign late to get back to fifth and put himself on the inside of the third row for the 35-lap feature event.

On a surface that would come back and go heavy as the feature moved along, passing would be tough as the entire field was able to keep a good pace going on this night.

Hanging around the Top-Five for much of the feature event, Hirst had a strong car underneath him but passing would be tough especially amongst the lead pack.

Sitting in fifth on a lap 29 restart, Hirst would get victimized by a rut and it would see him get out of shape and he fell back to finish ninth.

“It was another fun night of racing with a great group of friends,” Hirst said. “This place is tough on me more often than not, but still a good Top-10 as he look forward to Tulare in a couple of weeks.”

Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Larry Davis Farms, GP Development, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, XYZ Machine, DMI, HRP, Sway Away, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Sway Away, Schoenfeld, Warehouse Paint, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
