PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to his winning ways in California, Kyle Hirst took another step towards pocketing his second consecutive Sprint Car Challenge Tour Championship as he picked up his second win of the season with series on Friday night at Placerville Speedway before finishing fourth during Saturday’s Nor-Cal Posse Shootout finale.

“We really had a tough start to September with the Outlaws, so to grab a win during our first night racing without them was a huge shot in the arm for us,” Kyle Hirst said. “Saturday night we just missed it, and I am not sure where but we still ended up with a very good weekend.”

Friday night’s Nor-Cal Posse Shootout opener saw the Paradise, CA driver open his night up by timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments machine in fourth fastest in his group which placed him on the front row of his heat race.

Grabbing the heat race win, Hirst moved into the nightly Dash where a fourth place finish placed him in the second row for the 35-lap feature event. Going green, Hirst would make a couple of quick moves to get into third before overtaking Joey Saldana for second.

Stalking race leader Mitchell Faccinto, Hirst was able to race his way into the lead on the 15th circuit. Leaving the field in his wake, the only thing that would slow Hirst on this night was a trio of late caution flags. With Justyn Cox showing him a nose wing on one restart, Hirst would change his line up in the remaining laps and go on to collect his 11th win of the 2018 season.

Looking to complete the weekend sweep, Hirst would return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night and again get off to a nice start as he would time in fourth fastest again in his time trial group and again win his heat race.

By way of his Dash win, Hirst would lead the field to green for the final 35-lap feature event of the weekend, and would look very strong on the slicked off racing surface during the opening stanzas of the race.

Leading the first 12 laps, Hirst would see Sean Becker take over the race lead on the 13th lap as he fell to second and began battling with Justyn Cox and Tanner Thorson. Slipping back to fourth on the 22nd circuit, Hirst would do a great job of sticking in the Top-Five as he closed his weekend out with a fourth place finish.

“We were in position to cap our weekend off, but it got away from us at the end of the race,” He added. “Huge thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth, and everyone at Roth Motorsports for continuing to let us have some fun and providing us with great equipment.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2018.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 48, Wins: 11, Top 5’s: 28, Top 10’s: 32.
