PETERSEN MEDIA: Kyle Offill continues to impress during his rookie campaign behind the wheel of a winged 360ci sprint car. Gaining confidence lap after lap and adapting to many new surfaces, Offill laid down some nice laps over the weekend at Ocean Speedway and Placerville Speedway.

“Our finishes weren’t quite what we were hoping for, but there was some good that came out of the weekend,” Offill said. “We were really fast on Friday night but the driver made a bit of a mistake in the feature, and Placerville was tough because it was right around the bottom but we ended up 13th.”

Making the journey back to the scenic Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA, Offill got his night started off well as he timed the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber backed No. 2k machine in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Finding himself on the pole for his heat race, the Tracy, CA would turn in an impressive performance aboard the Taco Bravo/Maas Brothers Powder Coating/TMac Motorsports backed entry as he would pick up the win and advance into the nightly dash.

Lining up seventh in the Dash, Offill would get off to a great start as he would make some nice moves to score a fourth place finish, which lined him up in the second row for the 30-lap feature event.

Moving into the feature event, Offill would find a couple of slick spots on the track the first coming while running in the fourth spot. Losing the handle on his machine, Offill would go to back of the pack, and later on would lose the handle again and bring his night to a close.

A little dejected by how his night went Friday, Offill and the Team KO Racing group headed to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night looking for more laps on the high-banked ¼ mile.

With the track extremely slick during qualifying time trials, Offill would end up timing in 20th fastest, which lined him up fifth in his heat race. Scoring a fourth place finish in his heat, Offill would move directly to the 25-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the 16th starting spot.

Lining up on the outside would prove to be a slight disadvantage as the low groove would be the lane of choice on this night.

Able to work his way to the bottom, Offill would then capitalize on some drivers mistakes as he picked up what was extremely tough track position. Showing patience in just his 14th sprint car start, the youngster would close his weekend out with a 13th place finish.

“We had really good speed Friday night, and on Saturday night too, which is a good thing,” Offill said. “It was good to get a lot of laps over the weekend and get even more seat time.”

Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo,  and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.
