PETERSEN MEDIA: Doing his best at adapting to new tracks during his rookie season in a winged sprint car, Kyle Offill made another first time appearance on Saturday night as he got his first look at the intimidating Stockton Dirt Track with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“It was my first time at Stockton Dirt Track, and I really liked the speed of the bigger track,” Offill said. “I liked the speed, but I needed to have more of it so I could get timed in a little better.”

Timing the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber No. 2k machine in eighth fastest in his qualifying group, Offill would find himself in the fourth row of his heat race.

From the eighth starting position, the Tracy, CA youngster had his work cut out for him if he wanted to transfer directly into the 35-lap feature event. Turning in some good laps in a fast paced heat, Offill would finish eighth and head to the ‘B’ Main.

As the track continued to slick up as the more laps were put on the surface, it was a bit slicker when the B-Main began to assemble for the 15-lap affair. Lining up in the 11th spot, Offill would go wheel-to-wheel with some serious talent as he searched for one of six tickets to the feature event.

Laying down some impressive laps in his first showing on the regions newest facility, Offill would come up short from making the feature event as he would fight a deflating right-rear late in the race to finish in the eighth spot.

“These fields are tough, and you mix that with my first time at these tracks and we know they’re going to make for tough nights,” Offill added. “This weekend were thinking about heading back to Watsonville on Friday and Placerville on Saturday.”

Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 12, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 4

ON TAP: Kyle Offill and Team KO Racing are likely headed to Ocean Speedway on Friday night at Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
