PETERSEN MEDIA- Kyler Shaw will be the first to tell you that he had a disastrous night at the Placerville Speedway on Friday night, but the youngster from Fresno, CA stayed focused and turned in a nice showing at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night with the Civil War Sprint Car Series Presented By Flowmaster.

“Placerville is always tough, and we just had one of those frustrating nights on Friday night,” Kyle Shaw said. “Making my second start at Petaluma on Saturday I was hoping to redeem myself, and things went much, much better.”

With 30 cars on hand for the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster event, Shaw timed in seventh fastest, putting himself in the second row of his heat race.

Finishing third in his heat, Shaw lined up 10th in the start-studded 30-lap feature event.

Holding his own against some of the state’s best 360ci drivers, Shaw ran right around the Top-10 for much of the race aboard his Shaw Structures Unlimited/PM$ Investments/Stan Yockey Motorsports entry.

A couple of late double file restarts did not play out into his favor, and when the race came to a close, Shaw crossed the stripe in the 15th spot.

“My goal in racing is to always at least maintain my spot, or move forward, but I knew it would be tough to do with the field of cars that was assembled,” he said. “It was awesome to time in so well, and almost maintain our starting spot, and I really enjoy racing at Petaluma.”

On Friday night, Shaw was in action at the Placerville Speedway for their 4th of July Spectacular race.

Going out at the tail end of the 33 car field for time trials, the extremely slick track wasn’t nice to Shaw as he timed in 20th fastest.

Heat race action saw Shaw search around the speedway to find grip to get into a transfer spot, but a seventh place finish put him in the B main event.

With the track continuing to get a ton of laps ran on it during the day light, the surface continued to deteriorate, making passing tough as the night wore on.

Starting ninth in the semi, Shaw again searched the speedway as he tried to transfer into the feature event, but it was not meant to be on this night ,and his night would come to an early end.

“With it being so slick, it realy made it tough to get grip, and pass,” he explained. “I tried everything, but it was just one of those nights.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-12, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-3.

ON TAP: Kyler will now head to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for another round of weekly action.
