Late Spin Saturday Night Derails Blake Carrick

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to work in the Carrick Motorsports No. 38B machine last week, Blake Carrick and his team made stops in Texas and Marysville, CA as racing slowly comes back to life.

“Texas was cool to get to a new track, and race against some good competition,” Blake Carrick said. “It was really slick, and I went to school on getting better when it gets that slick. We came up short in the ‘B’, but thankful we got to race.”

Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil No. 38B machine in eighth fastest in his time trial group, the California pilot would grid the field from the fourth row in heat race action.

Still getting a feel for the West Texas Raceway in heat race competition, Carrick would pick up a couple of positions as he finished sixth. With only four transferring into the feature event, Carrick would pick up some more laps on the speedway as he headed to the ‘B’.

Lining up fifth in the semi, Carrick would put himself in position to battle for the fourth and final transfer position into the Tuesday night feature event. With rubber going down on the speedway late in the race, Carrick would make a slight mistake and fall back to sixth.

Finding the rubber late in the race, Carrick would get back up to fifth, and just narrowly miss out on grabbing the final transfer into the ‘A’.

During time trials on Wednesday night, Mother Nature would get involved in the racing action, and the event would ultimately get cancelled. With a race back near their Lincoln, CA home, Carrick and company would make the tow back to California and check in at Marysville Raceway.

Timing in 12th fastest on the familiar bullring, Carrick would line up on the front row of his heat race. Racing to a win, Carrick earned a berth in the nightly redraw where the two pill put him on the front row with Ryan Robinson.

As the green flag was displayed to the field, Carrick would jump out to the early lead though he would battle hard with Ryan Robinson. As the two dueled for a handful of laps, Robinson would get the better of the deal as Carrick would slip back to second.

Making a slight mistake, Carrick would then fall back to fourth before working his way back up into the third position in the latter stages of the race. Running in third, Carrick would start to challenge for the second position as the laps ticked down, but he would lose the handle on his machine and it would bring his night to an end.

“We had really good speed all night in Marysville, CA, I just made a late mistake,” Carrick said. “Really great to get back in the car last week, and hoping it can become a regular thing again for us.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
