PETERSEN MEDIA: Running in the Pacific Northwest at the end of May and the beginning of June, Lucas Ashe returned to action in the Golden State on Friday night as he took part in the David Tarter Memorial. Unfortunately, Ashe would take a tough tumble in heat race action and he will get back to his roots for a couple of weeks and return to the seat of a SALCO Inc. Outlaw Kart.

“Unfortunately we crashed pretty hard on Friday night,” Lucas Ashe said. “Thankfully my Triple X chassis and all of my safety gear took care of me but unfortunately we tore up some equipment so we need to regroup a little.”

Taking part in the Sixth Annual David Tarter Memorial on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, Ashe’s Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil entry adorned the No. 35 to pay homage to the late racer who competed using that number.

Timing in 18th quickest in qualifying time trials, Ashe would grid the field from the third row of the night’s second heat race. Battling for fifth in his heat race, Ashe would get sucked up into the Silver Dollar Speedway cushion and he would hit it wrong and his machine got upset and flipped violently off of turn two.

Though he would climb for the wreckage unscathed, his equipment took the brunt of it and his night would be over.

“You hate to tear equipment up, and you hate to have to take a couple weeks off to regroup, but sometimes things happen and it works out in the end,” Ashe said. “Though I’m bummed to miss some racing, I am thankful to have an opportunity to get back in an Outlaw Kart and have some fun.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 15, Wins-0, Top-5’s-2, Top-10’s-5

ON TAP: Ashe will shift gears this weekend as he will be aboard an Outlaw Kart on Saturday night at Cycleland Speedway.
