PETERSEN MEDIA- The Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA always seems to create excitement, and that was the case over the weekend as Kerry Madsen scored his 17th Top Five finish to date in 2015, his sixth with the World of Outlaws.

“We had good speed both nights, and were capable of having a pair of top fives, opposed to just one,” Madsen said.

Friday night night greeted the teams with very rough and heavy racing conditions, as Madsen timed his Keneric Racing/American Racing/KPC No. 29 in fifth quickest in time trials before a third place finish in his heat made him dash eligible.

Lining up seventh in the 35-lap feature event, Madsen navigated around the track, as he worked his way towards the Top-5. A wild night saw a couple of big wrecks, but Madsen was able to keep himself out of harms way, as he continued to work his way forward.

Following an open red flag during the halfway point in the race, Madsen was able to grab a couple more positions as he took over the fourth spot and chased after third running, Shane Stewart. Late in the race, Madsen made a run for the third spot, but came up just short of the position, as he finished fourth.

Saturday night saw Madsen get timed in with the third fastest lap of the night. Following a fourth place finish in his heat, Madsen would slip back to finish seventh during the dash, putting him in the fourth row of the feature event.

On an extremely slick track that was dramatically different from Friday night, Madsen was able to again slowly work his way forward.

Following a red flag on the 10th lap, Madsen would clip an infield barrier, and cause damage to his machine that would ultimately end his night.

“Friday was a tough track, but we were pretty good, and had a nice finish,” he added. “Saturday night we were en route to another strong finish, but I made a mistake a clipped the infield marker and knocked our front end out. Huge thanks to the Gavranich’s as well as American Racing and all of our other supporters.”

2015 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-26, Wins-6, Top-5’s-17, Top 10’s-21

ON TAP: Madsen will be back in action with the World of Outlaws this Saturday and Sunday night at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, CA.
